Why Simi Valley?

We (April, Dave, Brown Dog, me, and our other plushy friends) live in Columbus, Ohio, which is Dave’s ancestral hometown.  But much of Dave’s family doesn’t live there anymore.  His parents now live in Simi Valley, California; his brother lives in Portland, Oregon; and while his Grandmother, aunts and uncles live in Columbus, many family members and other friends and acquaintances are scattered all over the country. April is from Erie, Pennsylvania, and has family there...but she also has family and friends scattered all over the country.  No particular city stood out as a convenient place for a wedding for everyone who might want to come.

April and Dave suggested...long before the engagement...that, since the whole family is scattered all over the country anyway, they could hold the wedding in California. Even though that plan has been cancelled, enough people have decided it’s worthwhile to visit that we’ll party with Dave’s parents in Simi Valley  See the Important News!

So where the heck is Simi Valley?

Simi Valley is located in Ventura County, California, to the Northwest of Los Angeles, Northeast of Thousand Oaks.

The most practical commercial airports are Los Angeles International (LAX) and Bob Hope Burbank Airport (BUR). Ontario (ONT) and Orange County (SNA) are a long way out the opposite direction.  Dave prefers Burbank, and if he had his way would probably never fly through LAX again.

Burbank is served by Alaska, American, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, United, and US Airways airlines.  Los Angeles International hosts 68 different airlines, from Аєрофлот to West Jet, so if you’re coming by air, someone can get you to LAX.

If you prefer to stay closer to the ground, take California highway 118 West from Interstate 5, or California 23 North from US-101 in Westlake Village.  Where routes 118 and 23 meet in Moorpark, take 118 East.  This is all very general; drop us an email and Brown Dog will sniff out detailed directions.  Oh, and there is always the train; Amtrak California serves the Simi Valley station with regular service along the West coast and from Los Angeles.
